Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) for a travel assignment in a fast-paced acute care hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have strong perioperative experience across multiple surgical specialties and be comfortable handling a wide variety of cases with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Operating Room with a 1:1 patient ratio
• Assist in surgical procedures across specialties including:
  • Orthopedic (joint replacements, fracture repairs)
  • General Surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair)
  • Gynecology (C-sections, D&C, laparoscopic procedures)
  • Trauma (gunshot/stab wounds, amputations)
  • Podiatry and Endoscopy procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile field and surgical instruments
• Monitor patients during procedures, including conscious sedation and cardiac monitoring
• Administer medications, IVs, and blood products as needed
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and universal time-out procedures
• Document patient care accurately using Epic
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including radiology, pharmacy, and respiratory services

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience (travel experience required)
• Licensure: Active RN license (state-specific requirement)
• Certifications Required:
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Experience with:
  • Peripheral IV insertion
  • Specimen handling and labeling
  • Wound management
  • Surgical equipment (e.g., electrosurgical units, Hana table, Steris systems)

Work Schedule & Call

• On-call required:
  • 1–2 weekdays per week (3:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
  • 1–2 weekends per month
• No routine weekend shifts required unless on call
