Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER/ED RN)
Staffing & Support:

• 1 MD on-site 24/7
• 1–2 mid-level providers during peak hours
• Charge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7 (charge nurse typically does not take assignments)
• ED Techs (1:10–12 ratio) assist with IVs, phlebotomy, splinting, wound care, transport, and procedures
• Paramedic support (1 daily, 11:00 AM–11:00 PM)
• Respiratory Therapy available hospital-wide (responds to ED as needed)
  Responsibilities:
• Provide care for a wide range of patients including chest pain, abdominal pain, respiratory distress, and minor trauma
• Perform triage (if qualified)
• Manage ED holds
• Interpret cardiac monitoring strips
• Assist with emergency procedures and critical care interventions
• Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience
• Experience with conscious sedation and AMI management
• Strong critical thinking skills
• Required certifications: ACLS, PALS, TNCC
  Equipment & Procedures:
• Telemetry monitoring on all beds (RNs interpret strips)
• RT manages vents, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen (RNs troubleshoot)
• X-ray and CT available; transport handled by radiology
• Labs drawn by both RNs and phlebotomy staff
  
  
  Scheduling:
• No self-scheduling
• Block scheduling available (max 4 consecutive shifts)
• Every other weekend required
• On-call: 1 shift per 28-day schedule
• Holiday requirements: some major holidays required
• Floating:
• Required between East and West ED (generally pre-scheduled)
• Dress Code:
• Navy blue scrubs
• Orientation:
• 2 days hospital orientation
• 1 mentored 12-hour shift at each ED location
