Description
Job Title: Respiratory Therapist – Adult
Location: Winston-Salem, NC
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift Details: 12hr Night Shift – 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM | Every Other Weekend | 75% Holidays | No On-Call
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Adult Respiratory Therapist to join a high-acuity, Level I Trauma Academic Medical Center. The RT will provide comprehensive respiratory care across ICU and Medical/Surgical units based on patient needs and departmental assignments.

- Academic Medical Center (Teaching Hospital)
- Chest Pain Center
- Stroke Center
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver respiratory care to adult patients across ICU and Med/Surg units
- Manage patients with conditions such as COPD, asthma, pneumonia, and post-surgical complications
- Perform respiratory treatments and interventions
- Operate and monitor ventilators and respiratory equipment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and lead therapists
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure high-quality patient care
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of critical care Respiratory Therapy experience
- Active North Carolina Respiratory Therapist License
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- BLS and ACLS certifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Level I Trauma or high-acuity settings
- EPIC EMR experience
- Experience with advanced respiratory equipment
Skills Required
- Critical care respiratory management
- Ventilator management (invasive and non-invasive)
- Strong clinical judgment and teamwork
- Effective communication skills
Equipment & Technology
- Servo U, Servo Air ventilators
- The Vest, Volara, Aerogen
- Heated High Flow, cough assist
- Pediatric exposure equipment (HFJV, HFOV) preferred
Department Support
- Lead Therapists available each shift
- Adult and Pediatric leadership support
- Strong team-oriented culture
Orientation & Scheduling
- NEO plus 1–2 days departmental orientation
- 6-week schedule cycle
- RTO subject to manager approval

- No on-call requirements
- No floating (assignment based on experience and unit needs)
