Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Case Manager

Location: Eureka
Facility: Providence Health & Services
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: Night Shift - 5x8 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Schedule: Includes every other weekend

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Case Manager RN with strong acute care hospital experience to support care coordination and discharge planning in a dynamic inpatient setting. This role requires a clinician who can manage complex cases, ensure appropriate resource utilization, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform care coordination and discharge planning for inpatient populations
• Conduct admission reviews, benefits eligibility, and utilization management
• Manage appeals and denials, prior authorizations, and regulatory compliance
• Coordinate services including DME, home care, and post-acute placement
• Work closely with social services and interdisciplinary teams
• Ensure compliance with:
  • Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
  • The Joint Commission standards
  • HIPAA guidelines
• Utilize classification systems such as DRG and payer guidelines
• Document all patient interactions in Epic

Requirements

• Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years acute care hospital case management experience (must be recent within the last year)
  • Experience with care coordination and discharge planning required
• Travel Experience: Preferred (first-time travelers may be considered upon screening)
• Licensure: Active RN license
• Mandatory Experience With:
  • HMOs, IPAs, and payer systems
  • Advance directives, POLST, and protective services processes

  • Medical-Surgical
  • Pediatrics
  • Step-down/PCU/IMC/Observation
• Utilization Review functions:
  • Admission criteria
  • Appeals & denials
  • Medical necessity
• Strong knowledge of:
  • CMS regulations
  • DRG systems
  • HIPAA compliance

Work Environment

• Patient population: Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics
• Average caseload: Up to 25 patients
• Floating required based on department needs
• Interdisciplinary support: Social Services

Schedule & Additional Details

• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Call: Not required
• RTO: Must be submitted upfront (2 requests allowed)
• Parking: Free initially; assigned parking provided after orientation
