Description
Pride Health is hiring a “Traveler - Histotechnician (Traveler)” to support our client’s medical facility-based “Las Vegas NV 89119”. This is a 2-3-months assignment (Possibility of extension or conversion) opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!
Position Name: Traveler - Histotechnician (Traveler)
Location: Las Vegas NV 89119
Pay rate: $2400/weekly
Duration: 3-4 months contract with possible extension
Shift: 3rd shift, 3:00 am to 11:30 am, PST
- At least 1 year experience is required
-Active Nevada State Lab licensure is required
-Active ASCP certification is required
Job Description:
- Perform routine and non-routine activities in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s) under general supervision and in accordance with policies and procedures
- Process paperwork related to accessioning and reporting
- Ensure proper tissue processing
- Perform embedding and microtomy for select specimen types as defined by the Histology Manager/Supervisor
- Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining
- Perform coverslipping of stained slides (manual or automated)
- Perform special stains under the direction and approval of the Histology Manager/Supervisor
- Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of non-complex equipment
- File finished tissue blocks and slides
- Adhere to laboratory quality control policies and document all quality control activities
- Ensure compliance with corporate safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards
- Maintain compliance with local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (A.A. or A.S.) with at least 1 year of experience within the last 10 years OR High School diploma (or equivalent) with 5 years of full-time experience as a Histotechnician within the last 10 years
