Description

Job Title: RN – Peds PACU
Location: Winston-Salem, NC
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 12hr Day Shift – 48 hours (0900 start; on-call required)

Job Description:
RN needed for Pediatric PACU in a Level 1 Trauma, Academic Medical Center with 885 beds. Unit has 20 bays with an average daily census of 30–40 patients. The role primarily serves pediatric patients (ages 0–17) across multiple surgical specialties (excluding cardiac), with occasional adult patient care based on unit needs.

Minimum 1 year of experience required, 2 years preferred in pediatric critical care. First-time travelers are not accepted—must have prior travel experience. Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2 depending on acuity.

Requirements:
BLS and PALS required
Experience with ICU-level drips (heparin, insulin, occasional cardiac gtts)
Comfortable in post-operative pediatric care
Strong teamwork and communication skills required

Responsibilities:
Provide pre- and post-operative care for pediatric patients
Monitor patients and manage drips and recovery needs
Collaborate with anesthesia and interdisciplinary teams
Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC

Support & Environment:
Dedicated charge nurse and manager (no patient assignment)
PACU educator available
Anesthesia support 24/7
Transporters and HUC support staff available

Scheduling Details:
On-call required: 4–5 shifts in an 8-week period (includes nights, weekends, holidays)
Weekend/holiday rotation included as part of call
