Description

🔑 Deal Breakers / Hard Requirements

  • Start date fixed: June 1 (12p–12a shift)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years ER experience
    • Must include Level I or II trauma within the last 2 years (Level III/CAH alone = not accepted)
  • Epic EMR: Must have used within the last 5 years
  • Radius rule: Must live >100 miles away
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
    • TNCC preferred

🏥 Facility & ER Overview

  • Level 3 trauma center (but operates like higher acuity)
  • 52 beds, including 4 trauma bays
  • ~200 patients/dayvery busy department
  • STEMI & Stroke receiving (ships out for intervention cases)
  • 6 fast track beds
  • No separate holds → boarded patients mixed in ED
  • No psych seclusion rooms

👩‍⚕️ Staffing & Workflow

  • Ratios:
    • 1:5 (main ED)
    • 1:6 (fast track)
  • Charge nurse: No dedicated charge (house supervisor helps)
  • Support staff:
    • ED techs (experienced)
    • PCAs
    • Monitor techs (but RNs read their own tele)
  • Respiratory therapy: In-house 24/7
  • Security: 24/7 in ER

⚙️ Skills & Responsibilities

  • Must be comfortable with:
    • High-acuity + high-volume environment
    • Reading your own telemetry
    • ICU-level drips (with some ICU support)
    • Transporting critical patients to CT
  • Equipment includes:
    • Glidescope
    • Hamilton & Phillips vents

🗓️ Scheduling

  • Shift options: Various start times (7a–3p range)
  • Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4 weeks
  • Holidays: 2 out of 5 (including eves)
  • RTO: Max 5 days, no blocked scheduling
  • No guaranteed 48 hours

🔄 Floating

  • May float to a nearby freestanding ER (~15 min away)
  • Usually pre-scheduled, not last-minute

🎓 Orientation

  • 1 day: general onboarding (NEO)
  • 1 day: clinical + Epic
  • 1 day: on-unit
