Description
Oncology RN needed for ASAP start
Shift: 5x8s Days, M-F 8-5pm
Experience:
• No less than two (2) years of nursing experience in a medical practice setting.
• Experience in oncology setting is preferred
Certification and Licensure:
• Current and unencumbered license from State of Alaska Board of Nursing. (Or obtained by date of employment)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• Compliance with annual mandatory education.
• Compliance with annual immunization requirements.
• Oncology Certified Nurse certification preferred; must obtain certification within two years of employment.
• Moderate sedation Certification to be obtained within 4 months of initiating employment.
Essential Functions:
• Identify patient problems or needs by collecting subjective data including but not limited to changes in physiological, psychological, sociological, and spiritual needs.
• Monitor physical findings, test results and studies using knowledge of the disease process to interpret findings and identify potential complications.
• Execute treatment plans and medication orders initiated by providers according to policies and protocols.
• Coordinate patient care and collaborate with other disciplines and health care professionals to develop, evaluate, and modify nursing plans of care.
• Assess effects of illness and treatment on patients and significant others.
• Document all aspects of patient care in a timely manner including but not limited to overall patient condition as determined via assessments, findings/studies/results, and care given.
• Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to patient care, safely setting up, using, and maintaining equipment and supplies.
• Schedule patients appropriately for education and follow up on issues.
• Coordinate and deliver nursing interventions safely and competently, evaluate and document effects of interventions, and modify care accordingly.
• Identify patient educational needs, implement individualized education plan, and consistently document education provided.
• Perform phone triage.
• Facilitate device interrogation for pacemakers and nerve stimulators.
Technical Competencies:
• Proficiency in basic computer applications such as MS Word and MS Excel.
• Proficiency in electronic medical records.
• Ability to perform physical assessment within scope of practice.
• Proficiency in staring peripheral Ivs and accessing central lines.
• Ability to properly manage IV medications.
o Administer moderate sedation for patients undergoing procedures and monitor them per the clinic’s policies and procedures.
Work Environment:
• Exposure to odorous chemicals and specimens.
• Occasional travel between centers and within city is required.
• Frequent contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
• May be exposed to radiation and strong magnetic fields.
• May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
Physical Requirements:
• Work requires the ability to lift or push up to fifty (50) pounds.
• Work requires the employee to stand and walk throughout the day.
• Work requires long periods of typing, and/or viewing written or digital reports and data. • Work requires repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs.
• Work requires the employee to push, pull or lift objects and/or patients aided or unaided
