Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Assignment

Location: Shelby, Montana
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide comprehensive nursing care including executing provider orders, medication administration, and assisting in patient examinations and treatments.
• Apply nursing and supervisory techniques in the care and treatment of inmates/residents.
• Perform technical and clinical procedures within scope of education and licensure.
• Attend sick calls with the physician, prepare patients and equipment, dispense medications, and document according to policies.
• Assess new or ill/injured inmates/residents and refer to emergency care as needed.
• Perform emergency procedures and coordinate with providers for treatment orders.
• Supervise licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
• Monitor inpatient hospitalizations for early releases when appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of medical records.
• Assist with review and documentation of medical services and pharmacy audits.
• Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups.
• Prepare and maintain various medical and operational records and reports.
• Facilitate accreditation processes by providing appropriate medical services.
• Prepare safety and accident reports and respond to serious incidents and emergencies.

Work Schedule

• 12-hour shifts, Days or Nights
• 36 hours per week guaranteed
• Open availability required per scheduling policy

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Montana
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 1 year of correctional nursing experience
• Correctional nursing experience within the last year

Additional Information

• Must use sound independent judgment while following corporate, facility, and correctional policies.
• Maintain good working relationships with facility staff, contract providers, and outside agencies.
• Experience working in correctional or similar healthcare settings is implied by job duties but not explicitly required.
• Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
