Description

Job Title: Surgical Technologist – Labor & Delivery
Location: Winston-Salem, NC
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 12hr Day Shift – 36 hours (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

Job Description:
Seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist for a busy Labor & Delivery unit at a 637-bed Level 1 Trauma and Teaching Hospital. The unit includes 9 labor beds, 3 ORs, 4 PACU bays, 11 antepartum rooms, 4 triage rooms, and 27 postpartum beds, with a daily L&D census ranging from 2–14 patients.

The Surgical Technologist will support cesarean sections and vaginal deliveries while assisting with unit preparation and maintaining sterile environments.

Responsibilities:
Scrub for cesarean sections and OB surgical procedures
Set up sterile tables for vaginal deliveries and surgeries
Stock and organize the Labor & Delivery unit
Assist nursing and physician teams during procedures
Maintain sterile technique and surgical equipment readiness

Requirements:
Minimum 1 year of OB Surgical Tech experience required
BLS and CST certifications required
First-time travelers accepted

Patient Population:
Laboring patients
Antepartum patients
Postpartum patients
PACU and triage patients

Support Within the Department:
2 OB Surgical Techs per shift
CNA support available for vitals, glucose checks, feeding, bathing, transport, and patient assistance
RT, Hospitalist, Intensivist, and OB physician coverage available 24/7
PICC team available

Technology/Equipment:
EMR: EPIC
IV Pump: Alaris
Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
Monitors: Phillips

Scheduling Details:
Weekend rotation: 6 shifts every 6 weeks
On-call: 1 night call shift (7P–7A) every 2 weeks
Holiday requirements: None
Floating required within all Family Birth Center areas

Orientation:
1 day general orientation with educational modules
2 days departmental orientation
