Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Location: Danville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with 5+ years of ED experience. Candidates with combined ICU and ED experience will also be considered. The position is based in a 31-bed Emergency Room with 2 triage rooms, serving all patient ages including behavioral health and acute patients.
Work Schedule
- 36 hours per week guaranteed
- Rotating weekends/as needed
- No call requirements
- Float as needed
Unit & Patient Care Details
- Patient ratio typically 1:4, with exceptions during high volume or special circumstances
- Electronic Health Records primarily MedHost for ED; Meditech used for admit holds and behavioral health patients
- Serves a diverse patient population (all ages)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (Handle with Care) – available on-site
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- PALS or ENPC certification

Additional Information
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Tuesdays
- Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify for travel status
- Facility is a 250-bed academic community hospital with comprehensive surgical and emergency services
- Located in a small city with a mix of small-town charm and city amenities, near the Dan River with parks and cultural attractions
