🧠 Unit Overview (APU – Behavioral Health)
Work in an inpatient psychiatric unit serving a wide range of patients:
- Pediatric Psychiatry
- Adolescent Behavioral Health
- Adult Psychiatric Care
- Geriatric Psychiatry
This role offers exposure to multiple age groups and psychiatric conditions, making it ideal for well-rounded psych nurses.
🩺 Key Responsibilities
- Provide care for patients with acute psychiatric and behavioral conditions
- Conduct mental health assessments and patient monitoring
- Administer medications and manage behavioral interventions
- Support crisis situations and de-escalation techniques
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including psychiatrists and therapists
- Ensure patient safety and therapeutic environment
📋 Requirements
- Active RN license (Oklahoma or compact)
- Minimum 1 year of Psychiatric RN experience
- BLS certification – REQUIRED
- NIHSS certification – REQUIRED
- Comfortable working with all age groups (Peds to Geriatric)
💻 System & Work Environment
- EMR: McKesson
- Facility: 150–500 bed Level II Trauma Center
- Structured inpatient behavioral health setting
