Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) – Contract

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced emergency department serving patients of all ages and populations. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic clinical environment and is committed to delivering safe, compassionate, and efficient emergency care.

Position Overview

The ER RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for emergency patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions and injuries. This role requires strong critical thinking skills, rapid decision-making abilities, and the capability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for emergency patients across all age groups
• Prioritize and triage patients based on severity of condition
• Administer medications, treatments, and emergency interventions in accordance with physician orders and established protocols
• Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes in status
• Assist with trauma care, emergency procedures, and life-saving interventions
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals
• Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record system
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and emergency department policies and procedures
• Participate in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient clinical environment

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Room nursing experience required
• Experience caring for patients across all age populations preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to function effectively in high-pressure and fast-paced situations
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred

Required Licensure & Certifications

• Current active Hawaii RN license required
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Work Environment

• Emergency Department setting
• Fast-paced acute care environment
• Day, evening, and night shifts available
• Holiday coverage may be required
