  • Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse – Veterans Facility
  • Location: Yuma AZ 85365
  • Shift: 36-48 hours per week 6:30am-6:00pm (12 hours shifts) -36 hours one week and 48 hours the next week
  • Pay: $40.00 an hour paid weekly
  • Benefits: available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment

Position Summary

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) you will be responsible for providing professional geriatric nursing care, treatment, and services to residents in a long-term care setting. Duties include overseeing and training subordinate staff, administering treatments and medications, monitoring resident conditions, and ensuring quality patient-centered care under the supervision of an RN or physician. When serving as charge nurse, oversees unit operations and supervises other LPNs and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians and within scope of practice.
  • Provide care involving oral, enteral, parenteral, and suppository medications.
  • Perform treatments including wound care, tracheostomy care, catheter care, gastrostomy/jejunostomy care, and postural drainage.
  • Observe, assess, and report resident conditions and responses to treatments and medications.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and medications on assigned units.
  • Communicate resident medical, functional, and social needs with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in shift reports and care coordination.
  • Complete admission nursing assessments for newly admitted residents.
  • Assist with Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, quarterly reviews, and individualized care plans.
  • Maintain accurate clinical and administrative documentation regarding resident care and progress.
  • Supervise subordinate staff and assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, hygiene, and mobility.
  • Train and orient new employees and participate in staff development programs.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, infection control programs, and QAPI processes.
  • Utilize Arizona Management System (AMS) concepts and tools for process improvement and problem solving.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and interdisciplinary care planning.

Requirements

  • Active LPN license in the State of Arizona
