Description
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) at Mount Sinai St. Luke's. The ideal candidate will have strong post-open-heart and cardiac critical care experience, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to thrive in a high-acuity ICU environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Coordinate staffing, supplies, and patient care resources with nursing leadership.
- Escalate staffing or material shortages appropriately.
- Deliver patient-focused, cost-effective care while maintaining high clinical standards.
- Maintain accurate and compliant clinical documentation.
- Facilitate patient throughput and continuity of care during shifts.
- Support patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams with professionalism and compassion.
- Participate in professional development, shared governance councils, and unit initiatives.
- Promote ethical decision-making, lifelong learning, and evidence-based nursing practice.
Required Qualifications
- Active NYS RN License
- BLS Certification
- Minimum 2 years RN experience
- Minimum 2 years post-open-heart and Cardiac Care Unit experience
- 1 year travel nursing experience required for travel roles (not required for per diem)
- Experience with EPIC strongly preferred
Education
- BSN preferred
- Associate Degree in Nursing accepted with relevant experience and/or active enrollment in a BSN program
Unit & Schedule Details
- Unit: 26-bed CSICU
- Average unit census: 17
- Staffing ratio: 1:2
- Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, weekends required
