Must have experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center and have worked in hospitals with 300+ beds.

- CRRT (Prismaflex)
- Rotaprone
- TTM – Arctic Sun
- Massive transfusions
- Train of four monitoring
- Frequent paralytics
- ECMO at times
- 24-hour EEG monitoring
- EVD
- LP drains
- Neurosurgery patients
- MTP
- Trauma patients:
- Drownings
- Tractor rollovers
- Fractures
- MVAs
- Spinal injuries
- Sepsis
- DKA
- Post-op surgical recoveries
- COVID
- Post heart cath patients (may pull sheaths)
- SI patients
Bedside Procedures
- Trachs
- Chest tube insertions
- Bronchs
- Arterial line insertions
- Organ recovery/procurement only (no transplants performed)
Experience or ‘Must Have’ Skills
- Prefer experience pulling sheaths
- CRRT highly preferred
- Level II Trauma experience or higher required
Are RNs Required to Titrate Drips?
Yes
Common Titratable and/or Set Rate Drips
- Precedex
- Pressors
- Anti-arrhythmics
- Sedation drips
- Common ICU drips
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor
- Yes
- Day shift charge is usually a Blessing staff nurse
- Nights may be covered by the house supervisor
- Charge nurse takes a smaller assignment to assist staff
Are There Nurse Aides on This Unit/Ratios?
Yes
Hospitalist or Intensivist in House
24/7 intensivist and hospitalist coverage (MD & NP)
RT in ICU 24/7
Yes – assigned to ICU/PCU 24/7
RT Equipment
- Vents
- CPAP
- BiPAP
- All respiratory equipment available
Tele/Monitor Techs
- Tele monitor tech monitors patients
- RNs required to interpret strips
- Monitor system: Draeger
Shifts & Scheduling
- 3x12-hour shifts starting at 0700
- Block scheduling not guaranteed
- Scheduling requests discussed with unit leader
- Schedules posted 6 weeks in advance
Weekend Requirements
Every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday for both shifts)
Holiday Requirements
Holiday rotation with core staff
Call or Standby Requirement
None
Floating Requirements
- May float as helping hands
- Floating is infrequent
- Could float to PCU/CVICU and may take patients, though mostly used as helping hands
Scrub Color/Dress Code
Black
Unit/Department Specific Orientation
- 1 x 12-hour orientation shift on hired shift/unit
- First day is 12–14 hours for:
