Shift Notes
7p-7a, weekends as needed, first to float (They can be floated to any other MS, MS-Tele, or Tele to Nampa or Meridian)
Required Certifications
ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS ID/Compact license
Telemetry Boise Hospital – Floor 7
2 years experience required. Prior travel preferred, but not required.
Tele 3 & 7 pool their staffing together to cover staffing needs; traveler will be expected to float between 3 & 7, as needed.

3rd Floor – Cardiac Focus
- Post-op procedural
- Post-op day 1 open heart
- TAVRs
- Ablations
- Post caths
- Pacemakers
- Med-Tele patients
7th Floor – General Tele
- Post procedural overflow
- CHF
- Sepsis
- Electrolyte imbalances
- Post strokes
- And more
Experience or “Must Have” Skills
- Must have post procedural cardiac experience
- Cath lab
- Ablations
- Open heart
- Prefer PCU and Stepdown experience
- Must be able to:
- Read and interpret telemetry
- Document telemetry appropriately
Are RNs Required to Titrate Drips?
- Heparin
- Insulin (rare)
Insulin drip experience is not required; facility is willing to train if needed.
Common Titratable and/or Set Rate Drips
- Cardiac gtt
- Amio
- Cardizem
- Dopamine
- Dobutamine
Charge Nurse Information
- Charge nurse on each unit
- Charge typically does not take a patient assignment unless necessary
- Crisis & Resource nurse available in-house if needed
Nurse Aids / Patient Care Techs
3rd Floor
- 3 CNAs
7th Floor
- 5 CNAs
Typical CNA Ratio: 1:8
(Depending on staffing and census)
RT Equipment
Includes:
- High Flow
- BiPAP
- CPAP
RT available on each floor and manages respiratory equipment/treatments.
RNs may assist if needed.
Tele / Monitor Techs
- Remote tele techs located on 3rd Floor
- Nurses expected to:
- Read telemetry
- Interpret strips
- Document 2x per shift
Shifts & Scheduling
- 7a – 7p / 7p – 7a
- Schedule made 6 weeks at a time
- Scheduler works with travelers for scheduling needs
- Travelers expected to remain flexible and help fill staffing gaps
- Block scheduling not guaranteed
- Maximum of 5 shifts in a row
- Scheduler tries to group days together for night shift staff
Weekend Requirement
5–6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Days: Saturday / Sunday
- Nights: Friday / Saturday
Holiday Requirement
May be asked to work holidays, but not expected to work every holiday.
Call / Standby Requirement
- Typically no call
- More likely to float if needed
Floating Requirements
Travelers are first to float.
May float to:
- MS
- MS-Tele
- Tele units
