Description
**MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN SMALLER ACUTE CARE SETTING. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK AS A GENERALIST AND IN ALL DEPARTMENTS**
Required Certs:
BLS
ACSP- CLS
CA CPT REQUIRED
Trauma Level: 1 & 2
Variable scheduling - could be every weekend or every other weekend depending on census and staffing
Possible Shift start times: 7a, 10a, 12p, 11p.
Skills: Required Knowledge of theory and test application of clinical chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, microscopy, coagulation, and transfusion service - Required Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, multi-tasking and ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a complex, fast-paced environment and take appropriate actions in challenging situations. - Required
Duties: Job Summary: Performs all aspects of laboratory testing in one or more sections of laboratory. Accurately performs moderate and highly complex laboratory testing including Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, and Microbiology using a variety of examination and analytical methods on materials derived from the human body for purpose of providing information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment in the assessment of the health of patients of all ages/developmental stages from newborns to geriatrics. Reports results which are substantiated by proper use of appropriate quality control systems. Actively contributes to Performance Improvement activities and participates in proficiency testing. Supervises MLT and CPT staff. Principal accountabilities: Performs moderate and highly complex tests on various body fluids and materials to obtain data for use in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease Reviews quality control data to assure accurate results, interprets shifts and trends and takes corrective action. Calibrates and adjusts laboratory equipment based on knowledge, regulations and guidelines Acts as a resource to doctors and nursing staff in regards to lab reports. Provides functional guidance to all lab staff. Interprets clinical values and documents critical values per policy to appropriate licensed staff Performs in depth preventive maintenance and non scheduled maintenance procedures with appropriate documentation
