Travel Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Duration: 13 Weeks (Potential for extension)
Start Date: 05/26 (expected)
Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 12-hour shifts
Position Overview
McAlester Regional Health Center is seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse for the Medical Surgical (2W) unit. This role is ideal for a clinically strong MedSurg RN comfortable working night shifts in a high-acuity, fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to adult MedSurg patients on the 2W unit
- Manage a typical 1:7 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Monitor patient conditions, administer medications, and coordinate care plans
- Document all patient care using Meditech EMR system
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams
- Float to rehabilitation unit based on census needs
- Respond effectively to changes in patient condition and emergencies
- Maintain compliance with hospital protocols and safety standards
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum experience in Medical-Surgical nursing preferred
- Ability to work independently on night shift (7P–7A)
- Comfortable with higher patient ratios (travel RN assignment model)
- Experience with or willingness to learn Meditech EMR
- Strong critical thinking and time management skills
Schedule & Work Environment
- 12-hour night shifts (7P–7A)
- 13-week travel assignment
- May float to rehabilitation unit as needed
- Travel-friendly environment with high demand for contract RNs
- Expectation of adaptability in staffing-heavy travel RN setting
