Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Hours

• 3×12-hour (6:45am-7:15pm)

Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Compensation

• The pay for this position is $48.00-52.00 an hour paid weekly
• Benefits are available to full-time employees
• A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees.

Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for adult Medical Surgical and General Surgery patients in a fast-paced acute care environment.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and evaluate patient responses to treatment plans.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments safely and accurately following physician orders and hospital protocols.
• Collaborate with physicians, case management, therapy services, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
• Care for post-operative surgical patients including pain management, wound care, drain management, and patient education.
• Utilize Cerner EMR for accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, medications, and patient progress.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns as needed.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and quality care standards.
• Float to comparable units based on facility staffing needs and patient census.
• Participate in unit-based teamwork, shift handoff communication, and continuous patient care improvement initiatives.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Illinois RN License required
• Recent Medical Surgical nursing experience required
