Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health (Dementia)
Location: Athens, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Weekly Hours: 36 (including 24 weekend hours)
Call Requirements: None
Unit & Patient Population
- Unit: Behavioral Health, Geriatric Floor
- Number of Beds: 24
- Patient Ratio: 1:7
- Patient Population: Geriatric (50+)
- Specialty: Dementia with Behavioral Disturbances
- Common Diagnosis/Treatment: Dementia with Behavioral Disturbance
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) System: Medhost
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Healthcare Worker Certification (HWC) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training
- Experience working with dementia patients is mandatory
- Must be checked against the Tennessee Abuse Registry prior to assignment start
Work Environment & Expectations
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Mondays
- No float or call requirements
- Dress code: solid color scrubs; facial piercings are not allowed
- Personality fit: calm demeanor and ability to get along well with others
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
- The facility includes emergency, inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing, long-term care, and geriatric behavioral health services (specific to this role: geriatric behavioral health)
