Job Summary:

Under the supervision of nursing staff, the Dialysis Technician is responsible for monitoring and providing direct care to patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment. The technician works as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, compassionate, and effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor patients during hemodialysis treatment and report changes to nursing staff
• Provide direct patient care under nursing supervision
• Respond appropriately during emergency situations
• Reinforce patient education and treatment instructions
• Document patient care activities, observations, and incident reports
• Perform dialysis machine setup, disinfection, and technical procedures
• Assist with cannulation and blood drawing procedures
• Administer saline, anticoagulants, and related treatments within scope of practice and physician orders
• Follow infection control and HIPAA policies and procedures
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Knowledge of dialysis procedures and patient care practices
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced healthcare environments
• Understanding of infection control and safety protocols
• Ability to lift, transport, and assist patients as needed
• Computer skills and ability to respond to audible alarms
• Strong teamwork, flexibility, and problem-solving abilities

Additional Requirements:

• Must pass color vision testing
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
• May be required to take on-call shifts in acute care settings
