Description
Surgical Technician – OR General Surgery
Location: Bridgeport, CT
Contract Duration: 12 Weeks (06/01/2026 – 08/29/2026)
Shift: Days/Mids | 4x10-Hour Shifts (40 Hours Per Week)
Schedule: Primary 06:30–17:00; 30% of shifts will be 13:00–23:30 based on dept. needs.

Job Summary
Seeking a high-level Surgical Technician for their General Surgery OR. This is a demanding role that requires advanced proficiency in complex service lines, including Total Joints, Spine, and Robotics. You must be comfortable with the DaVinci robotic system and able to assist in a fast-paced environment that handles both scheduled elective procedures and emergent surgical cases. This position includes a significant on-call component and a variable shift schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Scrub Role Proficiency: Expertly scrub for Total Joint replacements (Hip/Knee), Spinal fusions/laminectomies, and complex General Surgery cases.
- Robotic Assistance: Set up, troubleshoot, and assist during robotic-assisted procedures using the DaVinci Surgical System.
- Sterile Field Management: Maintain absolute aseptic technique; organize and pass specialized instrumentation with high precision and speed.
- Instrumentation Mastery: Manage orthopedic power tools, spinal hardware, and robotic instruments.
- Call Response: Provide rapid response during assigned weekday and weekend call shifts for emergency surgeries.
- Coordination: Partner with the Circulating RN and Surgical team to ensure accurate counts and patient safety.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: * Minimum 3 years of Surgical Tech experience.
- Previous Travel Experience is required (no first-time travelers).
- Strong experience in Total Joint, Spine, and Robotics (DaVinci) is mandatory.
- Certifications (Must be active at submission):
- CST via NBSTSA OR TS-C via NCCT.
- AHA BLS.
- Skills: Must provide a detailed Skills Checklist matching the specialty with your submission.

- Address: Bridgeport, CT 06606.
- On-Call Requirements: Heavy call rotation—6 weekday calls and 6 weekend calls within every 6-week schedule block.
- Shift Note: Flexibility is key; expect roughly 3 out of every 10 shifts to be the 13:00–23:30 mid-shift.
Clinical Spotlight: The Robotic Scrub Role
In robotic surgery, the Surgical Tech acts as the "hands" at the patient’s side while the surgeon operates from the console. You are responsible for the docking and undocking of the robotic arms, changing instruments mid-procedure, and maintaining clear communication with the console surgeon to ensure a safe and efficient surgical flow.
