🏥 Unit Overview

This Medical Center PCU is a high-acuity step-down environment known for strong teamwork and consistent traveler extensions. The unit supports complex cardiac, respiratory, and post-surgical patients in a fast-paced but collaborative setting.

• PCU Beds: 630 (34 beds) / 633 (25 beds)
• Patient Ratios:
  • Days: 1:4–1:5
  • Nights: 1:5–1:6
• Strong tech support: 2–3 techs depending on unit census
• Self-scheduling model with 4-week schedules
• Every other weekend required 

🩺 Required Skills & Experience

Candidates must be confident in managing intermediate to high-acuity patients, including:

• Cardiac drips (cardizem, amiodarone, etc.)  
• Heparin & insulin drip management
• EKG rhythm interpretation
• Bipap, high-flow oxygen, Vapotherm
• Stroke & post-cardiac cath care
• Peripheral IV skills
• NG/Dobhoff tube management (preferred)
• Peritoneal dialysis experience (preferred)

🧪 Procedures & Equipment

• Chest tubes, thoracentesis, paracentesis
• Central line dressing changes
• Wound vac management
• Feeding tube insertions (NG/Dobhoff)
• Multiple oxygen delivery systems
• Cardiac & respiratory monitoring systems 

Equipment includes:

• Bipap, Vapotherm, high-flow O2
• Alaris pumps
• Cardiac/insulin/heparin drip protocols 

🎓 Certifications Required

• Active RN License (TN or Compact)
• BLS (AHA) – Required
• ACLS (AHA) – Required
