Position Overview

Providence Saint Joseph Hospital Eureka is seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist for a 13-week travel assignment in beautiful Northern California. This opportunity is ideal for a skilled imaging professional who thrives in a collaborative hospital environment and is experienced with a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, patient-centered care, and the ability to adapt in a dynamic clinical setting while supporting both inpatient and outpatient imaging services.

Assignment Details

  • Contract Length: 13 Weeks (Potential for extension)
  • Shift: Days
  • Schedule: 5x8-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
  • Call Requirement: Yes (Manager to discuss)
  • Floating: Required to nearby outpatient department

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with physician orders and department protocols
  • Administer and manage radioactive materials safely and accurately
  • Conduct imaging studies including:
    • Bone Scans (3-phase, limited, whole body)
    • Myocardial Perfusion Studies
    • Gastric Emptying Studies
    • HIDA Scans
    • PET Scans
    • Ventilation/Perfusion Lung Scans
    • Thyroid Imaging and Uptake Studies
  • Start and maintain IV access as required
  • Ensure patient safety, radiation safety, and infection prevention compliance
  • Collaborate with radiologists, pharmacists, IV teams, and interdisciplinary staff
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
  • Float between hospital departments and affiliated facilities as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Nuclear Medicine experience
  • Active California License required at submission
  • ARRT (N) and/or NMTCB Certification
  • CNMT Certification preferred
  • BLS Certification
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of radioactive material handling and disposal

Preferred Equipment Experience

  • GE Imaging Systems
  • Siemens Imaging Systems

Work Environment

  • Hospital-based Nuclear Medicine Department
  • Collaborative interdisciplinary support including:
    • Radiology
    • Pharmacy
    • IV Teams
    • Rapid Response Teams
    • Interpretation Services

Additional Important Information

  • Travelers must be willing to float within the hospital and nearby affiliate facilities
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application
  • Travelers are expected to work 2 of the 3 major holidays:
    • Thanksgiving
    • Christmas
    • New Year’s
  • Local radius rule applies (50 miles)
  • Housing in the area may be limited — early planning is recommended
