Description

Job Title- RN - Pediatrics PACU
Level 1 Trauma | Academic Medical Center | 885-Bed Teaching Hospital | 12hr Day Shifts (36 hrs/week)

Facility Overview
885 licensed beds; Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center; Academic teaching hospital.

Unit Snapshot

Beds/Census: 20 bays; 30-40 patients/day (primarily pediatric inpatient/outpatient, ages 0-17; covers most surgical specialties except cardiac).
Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 (acuity-based).
Shifts: 12hr Day (0900-2100). 4-5 call shifts per 8-week period (includes nights, weekends, holidays).
Team Support: Transporter, HUC/Receptionist, PACU educator, dedicated charge/manager (no patient assignment), 24/7 anesthesia, no phlebotomy; nurses handle telemetry. Open bay "all hands on deck" culture.

Experience & Qualifications

1 year required (2 years preferred in pediatric critical care/PACU).
Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment (no first-time travelers).
Self-motivated team players who ask for help when needed.
Certifications: BLS, PALS.

Key Skills

Manage ICU-common drips (heparin, insulin, occasional cardiac).
Limited BiPAP (post-op only); vented patients go to ICU.
Occasional adult patients (floated to their unit).

Technology

EMR: EPIC.
IV Pumps: Alaris.
Med Dispensing: Omnicel.
Monitors: Philips.

Orientation & Logistics

NEO facility day + 2 precepted shifts.
Scrubs: Provided.
Parking: Free.
