Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel/contract assignment in a Step-Down unit in Auburn, NY.
This is a night shift opportunity (4x12s, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) with 48 guaranteed hours per week, offering a great option for nurses looking for higher weekly hours. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of recent Step-Down experience and be comfortable managing a patient ratio of 1:4–5 in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting.
The unit cares for patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure (CHF), post-cardiac catheterization, post-vascular procedures, respiratory failure requiring BiPAP/CPAP/Vapotherm, and cardiac dysrhythmias. Candidates must be skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG/ECG, IV therapy, PICC line management, and blood product administration. Experience with cardiac drip titration, procedural sedation, and post-procedure care—including TR bands and frequent neurovascular checks—is essential. Additional skills include stroke management, respiratory support, and assisting with chest tube procedures.
Required state license with certifications include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. The facility utilizes the Pyxis medication system. This role requires every other weekend and holiday (EOW/EOH) coverage, with no blocked scheduling permitted.
If you’re a skilled Step-Down RN seeking a high-hour, rewarding travel assignment, we encourage you to apply.
