Description
Hospice Clinical Manager
Location: Missoula, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM with occasional on-call duties
Job Summary
- Responsible for overseeing patient care services within the Home Health hospice program.
- Acts as alternate nursing service line leadership.
- Serves as a key communication link between field staff, support staff, referral sources, and other managers/departments.
- Provides orientation, training, mentoring, and support for clinicians and case management.
- Monitors and evaluates clinical team performance, addressing gaps and initiating corrective actions as needed.
- Conducts utilization and productivity analyses to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Promotes safe patient care practices and responds promptly to incident reports.
- Coordinates patient and employee scheduling to ensure timely care initiation.
- Liaises with Intake and Billing departments to resolve onboarding and claims issues.
- Organizes and leads regular staff meetings with follow-up.
- Collaborates on budget adherence and problem-solving for financial variances.
- Enforces accountability in clinical performance through observation, coaching, and education.
- Manages supply vendor coordination and reviews supply utilization.
- Participates in hiring and staffing ratio monitoring to maintain adequate coverage.
- Responds to customer complaints within 24 hours.
- Supports clinical staff in problem-solving for routine and critical situations.
- Promotes workplace safety and coordinates with Human Resources on employee injury matters.
- Reviews and approves employee timesheets and leave requests.
- May represent the hospice program at community and industry events.
- Oversees all hospice operations and patient care delivery in the absence of the Hospice Director.
- Participates in Clinical Manager on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Montana
- Minimum of 3 years of Hospice experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Managerial experience in a healthcare setting
Additional Information
- Work schedule includes Monday through Friday daytime hours with occasional on-call responsibilities.
- Contract duration is approximately 13 weeks.
