Description

Chief Technologist – Cytology (Direct Hire)

📍 White Plains, NY
🕘 Monday–Friday | Day Shift | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
💰 $128,349 – $165,009 annually + full benefits

A nationally recognized, Magnet‑designated hospital in the New York metro area is seeking a Chief Technologist – Cytology to lead its Cytology department. This is a permanent, direct‑hire leadership role with strong stability and growth opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise Cytotechnologists; assign workload, develop schedules, and maintain departmental records
Receive and process body fluids, exudates, scrapings, and other specimens
Assist physicians with FNA procedures and patient specimen collection
Examine, classify, and record cytology slides using the Bethesda System
Present slides with unusual cytomorphology to Pathologists for further review
Maintain all NYS Department of Health documentation and annual Cytology statistics
Ensure departmental compliance, quality standards, and daily workflow efficiency

Required Qualifications

Active New York State Cytotechnologist license
Prior supervisory or lead experience (required)
Bachelor’s Degree with ASCP Registry and/or accredited Cytology School degree
Minimum 3 years’ experience screening:
- Gynecological specimens
- Non‑gynecological specimens
- Fine needle aspirations (FNA)
ThinPrep Certification
Strong familiarity with Bethesda Cytology reporting
