📋 Job Overview
- Role: RN Unit Manager
- Location: Camden, ME
- Duration: 13 Weeks
- Schedule: 03:00 PM – 11:30 PM (Evening shift)
- Guarantee: 40 hours per week minimum
- Accountability: 24-hour operational and clinical responsibility for the assigned unit.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Unit Operations: Oversee daily nursing care, manage budgets, and coordinate clinical services with other departments.
- Staffing & Scheduling: Collaborate with the DON to ensure 24/7 coverage, manage recruitment, and limit overtime/agency use.
- Performance Management: Evaluate staff work, create performance improvement plans, and initiate disciplinary actions if needed.
- Clinical Leadership: Direct patient care, enforce physician orders, and manage medication supplies per Genesis policy.
- MDS Compliance: Ensure timely, accurate completion of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) process.
- Risk & Incidents: Fully investigate, document, and report accidents, adverse events, and patient/family grievances.
- Discharge & Care Planning: Partner with interdisciplinary teams to optimize care plans and reduce rehospitalizations.
- Direct Care: Provide hands-on patient care when necessary to maintain skills or meet staffing shortages.
- Tech & Documentation: Enforce proper use of PointClickCare (PCC) and secure PHI under HIPAA.
🎓 Requirements & Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing meeting one of these tracks:
- BSN: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
- ASN / Nursing Diploma: Minimum 3 years of nursing experience.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a head nurse, supervisor, or equivalent leadership role.
- Licensure: Valid Maine State Board of Nursing license.
- Medical Screening: Verified Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) result.
- Language: Professional fluency in verbal and written English.
💪 Staff Education & Quality Focus
- Staff Training: Identify team educational needs and partner with the Nurse Practice Educator (NPE) to run training.
- Competency Checks: Demonstrate, teach, and audit clinical nursing skills specific to the unit's patient population.
- Quality Improvement: Review clinical records of unplanned rehospitalizations to implement data-driven improvements.
