Description
Job Title: Occupational Therapist – Acute Rehabilitation Unit
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist (OT) to join an Acute Rehabilitation Unit. This full-time weekday position focuses on helping patients regain independence in daily living activities following illness, injury, surgery, or neurological events. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced inpatient rehabilitation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients’ physical, cognitive, and functional abilities
- Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
- Assist patients in improving daily living skills (ADLs) such as dressing, bathing, grooming, and mobility
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation teams to coordinate patient care
- Document patient progress and update treatment plans accordingly
- Educate patients and families on recovery strategies and adaptive techniques
- Promote patient independence and safe discharge planning
- Ensure compliance with clinical and regulatory standards
Work Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Monday through Friday (Day Shift)
- Acute Rehabilitation Unit setting
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an A.O.T.A.-accredited school
- Active Occupational Therapist license in Washington, D.C.
- Minimum 2 years of Occupational Therapy experience
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (A.O.T.A.-accredited program)
- Additional experience in inpatient or acute rehabilitation settings
Additional Requirements
- Must live within 50 miles of the facility
- Ability to work independently in a clinical rehabilitation environment
- Strong patient-centered care approach and teamwork skills
