Job Overview

Performs high-quality diagnostic MRI procedures across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency department settings. Works with a diverse patient population (including patients with implantable devices, neuro, oncology, musculoskeletal, ventilated, sedated, whole‑body, and cardiac cases) in a supportive, team‑oriented environment with robust unit support and advanced imaging technology.

Required Qualifications

• Certifications required:
  • Active BLS (American Heart Association).
  • ARRT‑MR or ARMRIT certification.
• Experience:
  • 3–5 years of MRI experience.
  • First‑time traveler acceptable.
  • Experience with implantable devices, neuro, oncology, musculoskeletal, ventilated, sedated, and whole‑body patients.
  • Cardiac MRI experience preferred.
  • Breast MRI and Breast MRI biopsy experience strongly preferred as of 8/25.
• Technology proficiency:
  • Experiences with GE Discovery 750W and Siemens Aera and Magnetom Skyra MRI systems.
  • Experience with EPIC EMR and McKesson PACS.

Facility & Unit Details

• Located in Milwaukee, WI.
• Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Magnet‑designated, and Primary Stroke Center with 933 beds.
• COVID‑19 vaccination required for employment.
• MRI department structure:
  • 6 MRI scanners (currently operating 5).
  • Weekly census: approximately 250–300 patients.
  • Patient ratio: typically 1:1.
  • Floating: MRI‑only; no cross‑modality floating.
• Support on the unit:
  • Lead Tech/Coordinator on site.
  • Imaging Assistants available.
  • Traveler will never be alone during assigned shifts.

Scheduling & Call

• Shift structure: Day‑oriented schedule with weekend rotation.
• Weekend rotation: maximum every 3rd weekend.
• Time off: Approved by Nurse Manager (NM).
• On‑call expectations:
  • Primary on‑call: Saturday and Sunday nights, 21:00–06:30, with a 30‑minute response time.
  • Backup on‑call: Saturday and Sunday, 06:30–21:00.
  • Rotating weekly responsibility for first‑shift backup and weekend on‑call.
  • Weekend on‑call occurs approximately once every 8 weeks, includes on‑site Saturday, and comes with a compensatory weekday off.
• Holiday expectations: Based on unit needs and schedule rotation.

Orientation & Daily Operations

• Orientation: 3 days onboarding/support.
• Daily workflow:
  • Preparing and positioning patients for MRI exams.
  • Screening patients for contraindications and safety (including implantable devices).
  • Performing MRI exams across multiple disease areas (neuro, oncology, musculoskeletal, cardiac‑related, sedated/ventilated, whole‑body).
  • Using EPIC for charting and McKesson PACS for image management.
  • Collaborating with radiologists, nursing staff, and support personnel to ensure efficient, safe, and high‑quality imaging.

  • Siemens Magnetom Skyra (required).
  • McKesson PACS (required).

• Logistics:
