Registered Nurse – Postpartum (RN)
Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts
Shift: Rotating Day/Night
Duration: 13 Weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week
 

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Postpartum Registered Nurse (RN) to join the 5N Postpartum Unit at CHA Cambridge Hospital. The RN will provide high-quality care to postpartum mothers and newborns in an acute care hospital setting. Candidates should be comfortable managing post vaginal delivery and post c-section patients while supporting maternal recovery and newborn care.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 1+ year of recent Postpartum RN acute care experience required.
  • Current Massachusetts RN License required.
  • Current AHA BLS Certification required.
  • Current NRP Certification required.
  • Lactation Certification preferred.
  • Travel experience preferred; first-time travelers accepted.
  • Must work every other weekend and every other major holiday.
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to postpartum mothers and newborns in an acute care environment.
  • Assess, monitor, and manage post vaginal delivery and post c-section patients.
  • Administer medications including IV antibiotics, magnesium, PRBCs, Rhogam, and Lovenox.
  • Monitor patients receiving intermittent postpartum magnesium therapy or treatment for postpartum hemorrhage.
  • Educate patients and families regarding postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, newborn care, and discharge instructions.
  • Operate specialty equipment including Welch Allyn monitors, Nihon Kohden systems, IV pumps, Panda warmers, Venodynes, and Medela breast pumps.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR preferred.
  • Adhere to hospital safety, infection prevention, and patient care standards.

  • Scrubs provided by facility
