Cardiac Sonographer (Echo Tech) — Heart Center of Wilkes Medical Center
Location: North Wilkesboro, NC
Facility: Heart Center of Wilkes Medical Center, 1370 W D St, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659
Shift: 8-hour day, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday
Schedule: 40 hours/week, continuous schedule cycle
Weekend Rotation: None
On-call / Call back: None
Holiday Requirements: Clinic closed major holidays

Position Summary
Perform diagnostic echocardiography studies for outpatient and inpatient populations. Provide high-quality imaging and preliminary clinical data to support cardiology providers in diagnosis and treatment. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a friendly, relaxed department with strong teamwork.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), bubble studies, and pharmacologic stress testing per department protocols.
- Perform nuclear medicine echocardiography studies as required.
- Prepare patients for testing, obtain clinical history, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Acquire, optimize, and document diagnostic images; provide preliminary measurements and observations.
- Maintain equipment (Phillips ultrasound systems) and ensure images are archived in PACS.
- Chart study results and relevant documentation in EPIC EMR.
- Communicate findings and collaborate with cardiology MDs, advanced practice providers (APPs), RNs, CMAs, and EKG technicians.
- Adhere to departmental and facility policies, infection control, and patient confidentiality requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program (or equivalent).
- Licensure/Certification: BLS required; ARDMS (RDCS) required.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of echocardiography experience; first-time travelers accepted.
- Skills: Proficiency in TTE, TEE, stress echo, bubble studies, and nuclear echo; experience with EPIC and PACS preferred; experience with Phillips ultrasound systems preferred.
- Other: Reliable transportation; ability to work standard weekday hours.
Orientation and Support
- Facility orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of department-specific orientation.
- Team support includes RN, CMA, EKG technician, APP, and MD.
Working Environment / Culture
- Department culture described as friendly, relaxed, and team-oriented.
- No floating assignments.
- Clinic closed major holidays; no weekend rotation or on-call expectations.
