Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) for a high-acuity acute care hospital setting. The RN will provide specialized nursing care for patients undergoing gastrointestinal and endoscopic procedures while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for endoscopy and GI procedures including:
  • Colonoscopies
  • EGDs
  • Esophageal Manometries
  • Anorectal Manometries
  • pH Studies
  • Paracentesis
• Perform patient assessments, monitoring, and recovery care
• Circulate during procedures
• Administer and monitor conscious sedation
• Utilize telemetry monitoring skills when needed
• Maintain accurate electronic documentation in Cerner
• Float within UH Endoscopy departments as required

Patient Population / Unit Details

Common patient diagnoses and procedures include:

• Screening and surveillance colonoscopies
• Ascites management
• GI diagnostic and therapeutic procedures

Schedule & Call Requirements

• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• No weekend requirement
• 1–2 late shifts per week required
• Block scheduling not available
• Facility may call off up to 3 shifts during a 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of Endoscopy RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Active RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Certifications required:
  • BCLS
  • ACLS

Additional Information

• Travelers must reside outside a 100-mile local radius
• COVID-19 vaccination required
  • Religious and medical exemptions accepted
  • Medical exemptions require provider-signed exemption form
• Requests for time off greater than 7 days require approval
• Travelers who complete 4 consecutive assignments or reach 1 year of service must take a mandatory 6-month break before returning
