Description
Position Summary
The CVICU RN will provide critical care to post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients and other high-acuity cardiovascular cases. The role requires strong ICU experience, proficiency with advanced life-support equipment, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

- Cardiothoracic / Cardiovascular ICU (CTICU / CVICU)
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience required
- CVICU/CTICU experience strongly preferred
- First-time travelers accepted
- Certifications Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- Pending license accepted
- COVID vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation)
Scheduling & Hours
- 36 or 48 hours/week guaranteed
- Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment
- Weekend requirement: As needed
- On-call: Not required
- Block scheduling: Not guaranteed
- Overtime after 48 hours (for contracts signed after 10/30/2025)
- Minimum assignment length: 10 weeks
Floating Policy
- Traveler may float within scope to:
- Other ICUs
- Progressive Care Units (PCU)
- Emergency Department (for admitted patients)
- PACU (for admitted patients)
Clinical Skills Required
- Post-op open heart recovery (CABG, valve repairs, aortic repairs)
- ECMO, Impella, IABP management
- CRRT
- Swan-Ganz catheter monitoring
- Arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes
- Bedside trach & PEG care
- NG tube placement, Foley catheter insertion
- Participation in bedside surgical procedures
