Description
*Surg Tech Ortho/Neuro/Spine
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Guaranteed Hours per Week: 40 hrs
Primary Location: Aspirus Wausau Hospital
Shift Requirements: variable Days
Float Requirements: May be required to float to Aspirus Merrill, Antigo, Medford or Stanley if needed.
On Call/Call-Back: 6-8 nights of weeknight call and 1-2 weekend during the 13 week contract. 30 min response time meaning traveler must be ready and in the OR within that 30 min.
Weekend/Holiday: Weekend for call only.
Required Certification: BLS, CST license REQUIRED NBSTSA or NCCT is accepted (Aspirus requires AHA or ARC certifications)
Required Education: Knowledge of surgical standards and practices normally acquired through graduation from a surgical technologist program and four or more years of related experience in the operating room.
Minimum Experience: 4+ year experience REQUIRED.
Strong Ortho/Neuro/Spine experience is REQUIRED - Ortho/Neuro/Spine Cran cases are a must for call. Must be strong in totals.
PRIOR TRAVEL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
*Trauma level II experience REQUIRED.
Traveler must have their own vehicle and can not rely on Uber/Lyft due to on call responsibilities.
Charting/Equipment: NA
Unit Specific Skillset: Efficient in setting up an operative suite for patients, accountable for going through case carts to ensure all supplies are available, efficient in scrubbing surgical cases in a variety of specialties, turning over rooms for multiple procedures throughout the day. 2 ORs including all specialties. Avg 40-60 cases per day.
Required skills: Neuro, Spine, Ortho, General Surgery, GYN, Urology, Plastics, ENT, GI etc.
Must be comfortable with complex spine and neuro cases and Ortho cases. General Surgery, GYN, Urology, Plastics, ENT, GI not required but a bonus. Looking for a flexible candidate with excellent work ethic that is also willing to do downtime tasks if needed. Also willing to help teach our new hires.
