• Primary Stroke Center
• COVID Vaccine Required

Unit Information

• 24-Bed Med/Surg Unit
• Minimum 1 Year Experience Required
• First-Time Travelers Accepted Upon Review

Patient Population

• Oncology patients (some pediatric patients > 1 year old; travelers will not care for peds)
• Post-op bowel and GU surgeries
• Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
• Cellulitis
• GI Bleeds
• CHF
• Overflow COVID/TB patients
• Outpatient infusions (antibiotics/fluids)

Chemo certification not required.

Patient Ratios

• Days: 1:4–5
• Evenings: 1:4–6
• Nights: 1:6

Required Certifications

• BLS

Required Skills

• Chest tube care
• IV skills
• Port/Central line management
• CPAP/BiPAP/Airvo knowledge
• Stable trach management preferred

Support Staff & Resources

• CNA Support
  • Days: 1:4–5
  • Evenings: 1:6
  • Nights: 1:8
• Charge nurse takes partial assignment
• Phlebotomy available (RNs draw from central lines)
• IV/VAT Team available Mondays & Thursdays
• RT available 24/7
• Hospitalist coverage 24/7
• RRT/Code Blue Team
• OT/PT/ST weekday coverage with limited weekend support
• Centralized telemetry with tele tech

Equipment & Charting

• Epic preferred
• Alaris pumps
• Pyxis

Floating

• Float to other Med/Surg units or ER holds
• First to float

Orientation

• 1–2 days based on experience and comfort level

Scheduling & Expectations

• Weekend rotation required
• Holiday rotation: Every other holiday
• Call not required
• Time-off requests subject to manager approval
