Job Opportunity: Histology Tech

Location

Washington, District of Columbia

Contract Length

13 weeks

Work Schedule

Monday to Thursday, 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM (4x10 hour shifts)
No weekends or on-call required

Job Description

Perform routine and complex histology procedures used in pathology diagnosis
Assist in pathology grossing area
Participate in general maintenance of the histopathology laboratory
Requires experience with Immunohistochemistry (IHC)

Required Qualifications

Valid Histology Technologist license in District of Columbia
ASCP HTL certification
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Histology Technologist, including experience within the last year

Preferred Experience

Experience in commercial or reference laboratories is preferred

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

Valid driver's license required if driving is an essential job function
Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
Drug screen within 90 days of start (does not include marijuana)
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
Documentation of immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and Tdap vaccine (within 10 years preferred)
Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
I9/E-Verify attestation required prior to start
Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information

Additional Notes

No on-call or weekend shifts
Local rate within 60 miles of the facility
Must meet all facility-specific health and safety requirements including annual flu vaccination or approved exemption
