Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg / Ortho Trauma

Position Overview:
Banner University Medical Center Phoenix is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for its Med Surg / Ortho Trauma unit. This premier 746-bed academic teaching hospital provides high-acuity patient care and serves as a major tertiary referral center in Arizona. The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care for orthopedic trauma and medical-surgical patients in a fast-paced acute care setting while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care to Med Surg and Ortho Trauma patients
Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment
Administer medications, IV therapy, and blood products safely and accurately
Manage post-operative orthopedic and trauma patient care
Utilize telemetry monitoring and acute care nursing skills as needed
Collaborate with physicians, case management, therapy teams, and ancillary staff
Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions
Maintain accurate charting and documentation according to facility standards
Float to similar units or sister facilities based on staffing needs
Adhere to infection control, safety, and hospital policies and procedures


Schedule & Shift Details
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
3x12-hour shifts per week
36 hours scheduled weekly
24 hours guaranteed weekly
Weekend and holiday coverage required
No block scheduling guaranteed
Floating required per facility guidelines
Banner may cancel 1 shift per week

Requirements
Minimum 24 months of recent Med Surg experience required
Recent acute care experience within the last 12 months required
Ortho Trauma experience required
Active Arizona RN License or Compact License required at submission
BLS certification required (AHA, ARC, or ASHI only)
Travel nursing experience highly preferred
Clean state license history required
Med Surg skills checklist completed within the last 12 months required
Must be willing to float to similar units or sister sites as needed
Arizona residents are not eligible for Arizona travel assignments
RTO cannot exceed 7 days and no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
