Behavioral Health RN – Nights

Location: Coalinga, CA
Start Date: 6/1/2026 (Tentative)
Contract Length: 26 Weeks
Schedule: 40 Hours/Week
Shift: Nights | 2300-0700

We are seeking experienced Behavioral Health Registered Nurses for a long-term contract opportunity at a large state mental health facility in California. This role is ideal for RNs with strong psychiatric or behavioral health experience who are comfortable working in a structured, high-acuity mental health environment.

Position Details

• 26-week assignment with potential for extension
• Night shift schedule (2300-0700)
• Orientation and training occur on day shift (5x8s) for approximately 30 days
• Initial training includes medication certification and unit shadowing
• Candidates may work on the unit during orientation but will not provide direct patient care until fully cleared

Patient Population

• Adult behavioral health / psychiatric population
• Mental health treatment facility environment
• Patient ratios range from 1:8 to 1:30 depending on assignment/unit

Requirements

• Active California RN License required
• BLS required
• CPI required
• Minimum 2 years of Behavioral Health/Psych RN experience required
• Travel experience preferred but not required
• All skills checklists must score 3.0 or higher
• COVID vaccination + booster (if eligible) required

Important Attendance & RTO Policies

• Candidates with no RTO will be prioritized
• No RTO during orientation/training
• Maximum 8 days RTO permitted
• RTO requests require at least 1 month notice
• Calling out during holidays may result in termination
• Attendance during orientation is extremely important due to once-monthly training schedule

Credentialing Information

• DHS credentialing takes approximately 2 weeks (10 business days)
• Candidates must be available for full orientation/training schedule
• Profiles must be submitted by 5/25/2026

• 1,260-bed state mental health facility
• PPE provided
• Parking available onsite
• Scrub color: Any color (Navy Blue or Black preferred)
• Pay cycle: Sunday–Saturday
