Description
Department: CVU *Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. **Driver's license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles.** **Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care- refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract * * RN's - Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation. OPEN BOOK exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass. Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated * * - # of Beds: 18 - Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4, 1:3 for post surgical patients in the first 24 hours - Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Patients who require intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients. Unit heavily supports the thoracic program, EP, cath lab, and structural heart. Cath Lab, CVAs, CHF, A fib RVR and any other cardiac and vascular related diagnosis. - Experience or 'Must have' skills: 1 year of experience with this patient population - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Amio, nitro, nicardipine, epi, cardizem, and multiple other medications for blood pressure management - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes - rare to take assignment - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:18 - Hospitalist &/or Intensivist in house 24/7? In the ICU 24/7?: Yes hospitalist and intensivist in house with Cardiology on call after hours - RT in ICU 24/7?: Yes - RT Equipment? Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: BiPAP, CPAP, to Nasal Cannula - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Remote tele techs, tele hardwired and tele box capabilities. RNs must read and interpret. - Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1900, 1830-0700; Manager does schedule, no block or self-scheduling - Weekend Requirements: Every other - Is there a call or standby requirement?: N/A - Floating Requirements: Will float to all same level and lower levels of acuity - Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy Blue - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: Tailored to needs and experience, 1-2 shifts on unit Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidate may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO
