Description

Department: MedSurg 3CC RN *Certifications Required: BLS* PROFILE REVIEW+MANAGER INTERVIEW - # of Beds: 30 - Nurse:Patient Ratios: Days: 1:4-5, Nights: 1:5-6 - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: total joint replacement, spinal surgery, urology procedure, abdominal surgery (lap appy, bowel resection), bariatrics, medical overflow, hemo hemovacs and Jp drains frequently, colostomies, No GYN goes to maternity and cardiac MS Tele - Experience or 'Must have' skills  Prefer to have surgical experience, post op, early ambulation experience, ok with first time travelers - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: No - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Occasional heparin drip, PCA pump, TPN - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Charge Nurse, both shifts, nights occasionally to take a low acuity assignment - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? yes- 1:12, 1 tech - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? nasal cannula, RT does treatments - Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? remote tele packs, monitor tech to read an interpret - Are RNs required to read their own strips? RN does not read - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) 0700-1930, 1900-0730, manager to make schedule - If D/N rotate - 7-7 rotation will not occur more than weekly. Will consider block scheduling if unit needs are met. - Weekend Requirement: every other - Holiday Requirement: as needed - Floating Requirements Float to medical and telemetry, someone to assist with strips there, taking medical patients in that area - Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided?  any color - Additional Notes Bedside shift report is an expectation - Additional Questions  Close knit and good culture on the unit Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions. Updated: 1/25/24
