Description
Department: PCU *Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS* **need to be competent in Arterial Lines - Beds: 40 beds with average daily census of 24 - Ratios: 1:4-5 both days and nights - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults ,Cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer diagnosis, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post stent, post pacer placement, renal failure - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin - s there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes, 1:12 - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: High flow - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: RNs must read and interpret - Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1830, 1830-0630 / - Weekend Requirements: Every other - Holiday Requirements: minimum of 2 holidays that fall within contract time frame - Floating Requirements: Yes to MedSurg or to ICU to take PCU acuity patients - Scrub Color/Dress code: Navy Blue - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 1 day - Additional Notes: Overhead lifts in half the rooms, portable lifts, vein finders, bladder scanner, Focus on patient experience scores, responsiveness, hospital environment, and communication about medications,
