Description
Position Overview
- Position: Mammography Technologist
- Duration: 13-Week Assignment
- Local Candidates: Accepted (60/hr local rate)
Key Responsibilities
- Must be able to work independently on screening and diagnostic mammograms
- Knowledge of Quality Control (QC) procedures
- Stereotactic biopsy experience preferred
- Rotation on mobile vans required
- Produces high quality breast imaging procedures following ARRT, ACR, and MQSA guidelines
- Performs all screening, diagnostic, invasive, and DEXA scans according to established protocols
Required Certifications & Licenses
- ARRT license for RT (Radiologic Technologist) and M (Mammography)
- ODH License
- BLS/ACLS Certification
Schedule Details
Shifts:
- 8-Hour Shifts:
- 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
- 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- Mobile van hours can vary (9-10 hours, 6:45 AM - 4:00 PM)
- No on-call required
Floating:
Women's center and mobile unit (once or twice a week)
Unit Details
Equipment:
- 2 Hologic 3D units
- 1 GE Pristina 3D unit
- Hologic 3D Unit on Mobile Van
Patient Volume:
40-50 patients per day
Essential Job Functions
- Performs all breast imaging and DEXA procedures
- Assists radiologist in invasive breast procedures, ensuring aseptic technique and obtaining consent
- Correlates patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuring documentation is available for licensed provider
- Conveys patient's clinical history to licensed provider prior to examination
- Selects and operates breast imaging equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results
- Selects appropriate radiographic technique exposure factors to produce quality diagnostic images
- Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others
- Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of mammographic procedures
- Provides patient education and discharge instructions
- Participates in department's quality assessments and improvement plans
Qualifications
Education:
Associate's degree from an ARRT accredited institute (preferred)
Experience:
1+ years experience as a registered mammography technologist
Certifications Required:
- ARRT Certification: Certification and Registration in Mammography
- BLS: Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
Primary Function
The Registered Mammography Technologist produces high quality breast imaging procedures while following guidelines established by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist), ACR (American College of Radiology) and MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act and Program).
