Description
Department: MedSurg Peds RN *Certifications Required: BLS, PALS* NO CLINICAL INVOLVEMENT FIT TESTING / FACIAL HAIR- Please note, if a clinician for this facility has facial hair, they will be required to pass the either the Primary or Secondary fit test (3M Aura 1860 sm or reg/3M 1870+). If unable to pass - A Portacount test would be required, which CANNOT be completed on clinicians with facial hair & PAPR CANNOT be completed on site solely due to failing because of facial hair - contract would be canceled if facial hair cannot be removed. - # of Beds: 17 beds - 14 inpatient, 3 observation - Nurse:Patient Ratios: Days: 1:4, Nights: 1:5 - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults and Peds. UTI, altered mental status, pneumonia, COPD - Are RNs required to titrate drips? No - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Electrolytes, hypertensive medications, diuretics - do not titrate hypertensive/hypotensive medications - rarely have diuretics continually infusing - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes & they do take assignment. - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: 2:15 - 2 nurse aids on days; 1 nurse aid on nights - Pediatrician in house 24/7?: Not in house but on call for pediatric patients - peds are not managed by the hospitalist - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides troubleshoot?: We do not have vents on MSP; occasional bipap managed by RT primarily - Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: ICU monitors teles, reads strips, etc. MSP nurses apply the tele to pt. - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 7-7 // self-scheduling - Weekend Requirement: As needed - Holiday Requirement: No requirement - Floating Requirements: ED/ICU for 1:1s as needed - Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided?: Navy blue - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 1- 12 hour shift - or if needed one night and one day orientation - Additional Notes: Attributes that help a nurse be successful on this unit include communication, motivation, and approachability - absolutely and the ability to work well with others and be part of a team. Most importantly, ask questions when unsure. Documentation can be tricky at times. Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions. Updated: 2/26/2024
