Job Posting: CVOR Surgical Technologist (Travel)
Facility Overview
- Location: Charlotte, NC 28210
- Bed Count: 337 licensed beds
- Facility Type: Non-Teaching, Non-Trauma Facility
- Designations: Accredited Chest Pain Center & Stroke Center
- Radius Rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50+ miles away from the facility.
Shift, Call & Schedule
- Core Schedule: 3x12-Hour Day Shifts | 0700 – 1900 (36 hours/week)
- Weekend Rotation: None (Call only)
- On-Call Requirements (per 6-week schedule):
- Weeknights: 4–5 nights of call (shifts start as early as 1700–0700).
- Weekends: 1–2 weekends of call (Friday 1700 to Monday 0700).
- Holiday Requirements: Shared holiday rotation (On-Call basis).
Position Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of specialized OR experience (CST / CVOR CST).
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted.
- Education: Must have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology program prior to start date.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Required)
- National Certification (Highly Preferred)

Note for Interviewers: A skills proficiency score of 4–5 in Orthopedics must be verified and documented during the phone interview.
Candidates must possess strong, recent experience scrubbing into both Main OR and CVOR cases:
1. CVOR / Cardiothoracic Caseload
- Cardiothoracic: CABG, AVR, MVR, Mini Mitral, Septal Myomectomy
- Vascular: Fistula creations, Transcarotid revascularization (TCAR), Carotid & Femoral endarterectomy, Bypasses, Iliac artery thrombectomy, Brachial pseudoaneurysm repair, Carotid baroreceptor implantation, Dissections, and Hybrid cases.
- Thoracic: VATS, Robotic resections, Lobectomies, Pericardial windows.
2. Main OR Caseload
- Orthopedics: Total Hip, Knee, and Shoulder Arthroplasty (including Reverse Shoulder); Knee/Shoulder Arthroscopies; Fractures and Nails.
- Spine: Cervical and Lumbar fusions, Microdiscectomies, Laminectomies, Spinal cord stimulators.
- Robotics: Robotic Choles, Appys, Hernias, Colectomies, Nephrectomies, Prostatectomies, and Lobectomies.
- General & Colorectal: Lap/Open Hernia repairs, Lap Chole, Lap Appy, Colon/Sigmoid/Ascending/Total abdominal colectomies, APRs, Ex Laps, Trachs, PEGs, J/G Tubes, Hemorrhoidectomies, Anal fistulas, EUA's.
- Gynecology & Urology: Total Lap/Open Abdominal/Supracervical Hysterectomies, Salpingectomies, Oophorectomies, Ovarian cystectomies, Hysteroscopies, D&E. Prostate/Skin/Lymph node biopsies, TURP, TURB, Cystoscopy, Ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy & stent placement, Hand-assisted/Lap Nephrectomies, Perc Nephs.
- Breast, Plastics, & Podiatry: Lumpectomies (needle/seed loc), Total skin-sparing mastectomies, Tissue expanders, Breast reduction/reconstruction, Brachioplasty, Debridements, and Amputations.
Environment, Logistics & Support
- Unit Size: 13 OR Rooms + 1 Procedure/Cysto Room (~45 cases per day).
- Department Support:
- 6 OR Assistants on weekdays (Assisting with room turnovers, stocking, patient positioning, surgical table operation).
- 24/7 Anesthesia / CRNA coverage.
- Dedicated Charge Nurse & Receptionist/HUC.
- Technology & Systems: EPIC (EMR), Omnicell (Med Dispensing), Alaris (IV Pumps), Phillips (Monitors).
- Floating: None specified.
- Orientation:
- Main OR: 1 Week | CVOR: 2 Weeks.
- Standard schedule: Five 8-hour shifts. Any deviation requires management approval.
