Travel Registered Nurse – Telemetry / Observation Unit
Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside, Jacksonville, FL
Contract Assignment | 13 weeks (Potential for extension)

Shift: Night Shift (18:45 – 07:15)
Job Type: Long-Term Travel Assignment
Provided specialized telemetry and observation nursing care in a high-acuity, fast-paced Observation Unit closely integrated with the Emergency Department at Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside. Delivered comprehensive patient-centered care for adult patients requiring short-term monitoring, rapid evaluation, cardiac observation, and stabilization prior to discharge or inpatient admission.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Managed and monitored telemetry patients with cardiac, medical, and emergency-related conditions requiring continuous cardiac observation and advanced nursing assessment.
- Provided care for patients with higher cardiac acuity, including administration and monitoring of titratable cardiac drips according to hospital protocols.
- Performed comprehensive patient assessments, cardiac rhythm interpretation, neurological monitoring, and rapid clinical interventions in changing patient conditions.
- Collaborated directly with Emergency Department physicians, hospitalists, case management teams, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare providers to ensure safe patient transitions and continuity of care.
- Delivered care within a high patient turnover environment requiring excellent prioritization, multitasking, time management, and critical thinking skills.
- Administered medications, IV therapies, cardiac medications, and emergency interventions while maintaining strict adherence to patient safety and infection control standards.
- Utilized Cerner Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system for accurate charting, medication administration, physician communication, and care documentation.
- Responded to rapid response situations and acute patient deterioration while maintaining compliance with telemetry and observation nursing standards.
- Educated patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care requirements.
- Supported hospital staffing needs during short staffing and open FTE coverage assignments while maintaining high-quality patient outcomes and customer satisfaction.
Unit & Assignment Highlights
- Worked in a specialized Observation Unit designed for rapid assessment, treatment, stabilization, and disposition planning.
- Managed diverse patient populations with medical, cardiac, and emergency care needs.
