Position Requirements
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- First-time travelers not accepted
Required Certifications
- BLS required
- ACLS required
- NIHSS preferred
Patient Population
- Adults through Geriatrics
Unit Overview
- Overflow IMCU unit
- 32-bed unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5–6
Required Clinical Experience & Skills
Candidates must have experience with:
- Arrhythmia management
- Cardioversion
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Chest pain patients
- Renal patients
- Pulmonary patients including:
- COPD
- Pulmonary edema
- Pulmonary embolism (PE)
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
- Stable cardiac arrhythmias including:
- A-Fib
- SVT
- Bradycardia
- Surgical patients including:
- Cholecystectomy
- Appendectomy
- Chest tubes
- Biliary drains
- Post-cardiac cath recovery
- TR Band management
- DKA patients
- Basic arrhythmia interpretation and management
Additional Patient Types
Occasional overflow patients may include:
- Vascular patients
- Orthopedic patients
- CVA patients
(Transferred to appropriate units as soon as possible)

Scrub Color

Floating Requirements
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
Call Requirements
- Call is rare
- 2-hour response time required if called in
- Travelers typically will not manage Precedex drips; core staff handle these assignments
Holiday Requirements
If major holidays fall during the assignment:
- One holiday: traveler expected to work it
- Two holidays: traveler expected to work both
- Three holidays: traveler expected to work two
