Shift Information- 1900-0700
On Call, Call Back Requirements- None
Weekend Rotation- EOW
Holiday Requirements- Travelers will work 75% of holidays
Floating Requirements- Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division (CMC Main + CMC Mercy + Levine Children’s Hospital)
● Unit Information:
· Beds: 36
▪ Average Census: 36
· Minimum Years of Experience required? 18 months of PCU exp
· Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
· COPD/Pulmonary Diseases, Heart Failure, Cardiac Arrhythmias, Renal Failure, Sepsis, ETOH/CIWA and IVDA, tracheostomies requiring mechanical ventilation, continuous BIPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, hypothermia regulation, and titratable IV drips
● Patient Ratios:
· RN: 1:3-4
· CNA: 1:9
● Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
· RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
● Skills required:
· RN: Experience with the above patients, experience with trached/vented patients, temporary/transvenous pacemaker, cardiac gtt experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, trach care, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, etc.
● Support within the Department:
· CNA – patient care (ADLs/Vitals/Nutrition/Blood sugar checks) and mobility
· No Receptionist/HUC
· Charge nurse
· Virtual Nursing (helps with Admission/Discharge, Virtual Observation of patients, can sign off as RN witness for certain meds)
· Phlebotomy, 24/7
· IV/VAT Team, 24/7
· Pharmacist dedicated to unit
· Case Manager x 2 per unit
· MedSurg Clinical Nurse Specialist
· RT 24/7 – will perform Nebulizer treatments
· Nurse Educator
· Hospitalist, 24/7
· Intensivist until 12am and then virtual/on call critical care MD
· No remote Tele Monitoring - Unit Clerk, Charge/Clinical Supervisor and Staff are responsible to read and post every shift
● Technology/Equipment:
· EMR: EPIC
· IV Pump: Alaris
· Med dispensing: Omnicell
· Monitors: Phillips
· Rover Communication
· Virtual Nursing (helps with Admission/Discharge, Virtual Observation of patients, can sign off as RN witness for certain meds)
● Floating:
· Within region and scope of practice
· Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
▪ Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division (CMC Main + CMC Mercy + Levine Children’s Hospital)
▪ If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
